Eggs

When I was a kid I was'nt allowed to celebrate easter, Sadly it was one of the Holidays I believed in the most.

A big giant Bunny leaves a big giant basket overflowing with fake shiny grass and jelly beans.

For the longest time I collected bunny dolls holding carrots and small baskets, Hoping that the easter bunny would realise I was'nt like my family and that I wanted the goods.

My parents are very religious and pretty don't celebrate any holiday, so as kids we did'nt either.

Sometimes a teacher would find a way of helping to cater the holiday to me so that I was'nt left out.

My second Grade teacher had us make bunny boxes out of paper milk containers. I remember telling my mom it was for a project that showed us how to make bunnies.
Each of us cut and pasted construction paper onto the milk jugs then cut a giant hole in the back. I think we filled it with cotton balls. My teacher had us line them up before we went to recess. when we came back they were filled with all sorts of chocolate candies. It was the closest thing I ever had to an easter holiday.

My parents only holiday is the passover which was really, really, boring to me.

The hardest was going shopping with my parents and seeing gigantic easter baskets filled will dolls and cars and chocolate bunnies. I pined for them so bad as the wire shopping cart poked me in the butt.
My friends would always share something with me from there baskets, but it was never the same as it being for me......

When I woke up this morning , I had just dreamed I was dancing wildy in my parents yard,  I was dancing for the rites of spring.

When I finally got out of bed I walked into the living room, sitting on the table is a basket  with a letter in it from the easter bunny. He apologised for never giving me a basket as a child, saying everytime he tried my mother threatened to beat him up and turn him into stew.

The basket was empty and I had to search for twelve eggs hidden throughout the room.  so began my first easter...

My boyfriend came into the room and dictated the rules the easter bunny gave him to give me. I eventually found the eggs, Even with my boyfriends commentary throughout, "don't forget the easter rabbit hops" and I would look to find an egg on the ceiling fan.

I was truly giddy and felt young again. Though it was simple, it was such a loving thought.

Even though I didn't have holidays growing up, I no longer hold it against my parents. I just cherish each holiday all the more now.

Thank you Mr. Easter Bunny, I still believe in you...
