DIRTY LAUNDRY #1
so today was my first day at dirty laundry. lulu didn't seem like anything to write about cos it's really just to pay the bills, but it is nice to know that the opportunity exists if i want to do something more extravagant than hemming pants. like... drafting patterns, or sewing samples, or shoot me. i don't think i want to be something miniscule in a big company. even if there is opportunity for growth with them. i don't even do yoga (yet).
SIDENOTE: wow, i just looked at the start menu on the computer at my new house and we have wicked programs!
photoshop, illustrator, flash, dreamweaver... and a burner! dayum. i think i'm getting an ipod anyways.
so yeah, today i walked to work and got lost along the way. i called to say i was lost and that i had given up to take a cab. turns out i was only 2 blocks away. haha! so i get there and they are in a new studio since i last saw them. shwank building with a gym on the second floor and a rooftop patio that is i'm sure, wicked in the summer! so for every tuesday and thursday for the next semester from 10am till 6pm i'll be found at 55 water street.
when i came in, they had just received news (i'm assuming earlier that morning or this weekend sometime) from their wonderful PR guy in New York that the ladies had been asked to contribute somethign to the gift bags at NEW YORK FASHION WEEK this coming FEBRUARY!
now there are only going to be 20 gift bags distributed and who gets them?? only THE A-LIST celebrities. whoever the fuck they are, i dunno. i only knew of gwenyth paltrow and j.lo. but i'm sure we could google them and find out who's shirts i had a hand in making today.
the theme is a bedtime theme, so they made some children's sleeveless tops with cut outs (all hand cut)of the cow jumping over the moon, and to throw off the story a bit... an alien passing by....
it's cute stuff. i'm excited for this one! enough computer for now...
