51 weeks

Sep 01, 2009 10:38

I was getting ready to jump to my friends page and lurk in the comments section when I saw a little note in the corner of the page 51 weeks since I last posted. Really? Truly? But why would lj lie about it? Anyway, updating-ness: still in GB not sure if I'll stay there are mixed reviews. Baby, cat and I still live together, the dog dropped us ( Read more... )

Welcome back to LJ! We missed you!

Glad my package made it to you safely and that Keira likes the cat. It's a pretty good cat.

No school in the fall? What will you be doing?

You'd think that the fact that you are a single mother would make them cut you some slack on the financial aspect. I am really amazed by how you manage to pull it all off. But my guess is Keira's worth it. :)

I'm starting to have baby cravings, and even though the logical part of my brain says that now is not the time, there's more to life than being logical.

lol, there is no 'right' time for a child. Becoming a parent is an inherently crazy action, because as ready as someoe thinks they are, they aren't :) It's crazy, but utterly worthwhile.

Children make their own time, I guess. And the adults in the picture just have to work around them. :) So what is Keira up to these days? Is she chatting? It just shows how little I know about childhood development. I have no idea at what age kids start to talk using real words . . .

She is nonstop action, does not believe in sitting still. She's a little chatter box although it's maybe 20% standard English. She loves to climb and read, won't sit still for more than 5 minutes of a story, but likes to sit in her little chair flipping through a book, until I have to rescue it from her enthusiasm.

Sounds like a budding mind filled with curiosity about the world! Organization and attention span can come later. :) Do you let her watch TV? My parents were huge fans of Sesame Street, but I don't know if it's as good now as it was back in the day.

Dog Whisperer?

yep, a dog trainer/psychologist, who goes around helping people with seriously messed up dogs, mostly by showing them how they are creating the animals issues.

That actually sounds really interesting. A lot of people don't know how to care for a dog properly and people have all kinds of messed up ideas about training. Loving a dog is not always enough to give it a good life, you also have to know what you're doing.

It's on the National Geographic channel.

Hey! I have TV now! And basic extended cable! This is such a novel thing for me, truly. Growing up, my parents did not approve of cable. They only ever watched PBS anyway so why should they pay for the extra dozen channels that they never watched? Never mind that *I* wanted to watch them. *pout*

But now I've got my own place! Just need to get around to setting up that TV that's sitting on the floor in the living room . . .
