Who would be the lead characters? Detective Tim McBride; dead patients at Mercy Cross Hospital; a staff of suspects.
Who would be the bad guy/guys? Though he/she doesn't consider themselves a "bad guy", everyone is anxious about the "Angel of Death" disconnecting breathing tubes from elderly and vegitative patients.
What would the story be about? A pattern of long-term patients at the hospital who die unexpectedly, but not without help.
Where would it take place? Mercy Cross Hospital, Seattle, WA.
Would it end happily-ever-after or sad? Depends on your perspective...the case would be solved, though.
100 Word Scene:
The room was, for lack of a better term, deathly still. Unlike the other rooms in the ward, there was no hiss of a ventilator, no steady or rhythmic beeping of a heart monitor. The only noise punctuating the silence was the soft, hitching cries of Amanda Casey’s mother as she clutched her daughter’s tiny hand in her own.
McBride finally entered the room and knelt next to the grief stricken woman. He was surprised when her head snapped up and she looked at him with red-rimmed but determinedly angry eyes.
“How could you people let this happen?” she spat, fist closing tightly around a tissue. “You told those other families you were doing everything you could to find this monster!” She looked back at the teenage girl, and McBride felt an uncomfortably heavy feeling in his chest. “She didn’t deserve to go this way. Not my little girl.”
