Who are the main characters? Gemma Flannery, a high school sophomore and an Irish dancer
What is the story about? Gemma wants her Irish dance team to go for the gold, and get a chance to compete in the Irish Step-dance World Championship before she graduates. However, her team, including her, quite frankly sucks. In order to go for the gold, she plans to lie, cheat, scam, and even drug her teammates to the gills on steroids if it'll get her what she wants. Illegal only means "don't get caught", after all.
What has happened in the story before this scene began? After an exposition showing how Gemma got into stepdance since childhood, we get a glimpse of her at her present day practice- the above scene is her in the middle of a kick which leads her to falling flat on her back.
What will happen afterwards? Afterwards, she'll be forced to sit out and go see the nurse to make sure she didn't accidentally concuss herself. She'll skip the rest of practice and go home, where she notices how close the reginals are- this prompts her to start her campaign of duplicity.

Well, whatever it was, her feet didn't seem to appreciate her brain's indecision. Her legs warbled, and if they could talk, would probably say something like, "Cap'n, we've given 'er all she's got! She ain't movin' anymore~!"
The world swirled like five different paints drenched in water, and the next thing she knew, she blinked and there. Cammy. was. Freaking freshman stalker. Probably felt she could steal some of her hair while she was KO'd on the floor.
"Cammy, your breath smells like something died. Move."
