there was a father and a son driving in a car and they got in a wreck. the father was killed, but the boy was alive although he was in critical condition. so they rush the boy to the hospital. the doctor comes out and says "wait, i can't do surgery on this boy, he is my son". how is this possible?
when told this joke, most people usually reply with "that can't be right, you said the father died". well, it is possible because it is the mother who is the doctor. this joke is an example of how society still views doctors as still being all male. it also shows that when many people hear the word "doctor" they think of a male. society as a whole still looks at doctors as being mostly associated with male. unfortunately, it will just take more women to become doctors and more time before society can make the transition. hard to believe that in 2006 society has yet to make the transition.
