And then, there I was

There's a youtube video that's been posted on an alumni group of mine in Facebook. Footage of a radio show I was involved in back in 1986. I don't remember being videotaped. It was a special Arbor Day program of a weekly radio show and a tree was planted live on the air. The college president threw in the first shovel of dirt and there was a cheap mike planted in the hole so that was heard, live. There's a horrible commentary by me on one of the segments and I'm embarrassed to link to it here or anywhere. Far from my even average work. Such juvenilia should have been erased! But I'm glad it was not.

I mean, there was my married less than a year, 21 year old self - with bad facial hair behind a microphone outside having a chat with a future member of the Hypnolovewheel. We were outside in Fredonia and it was not snowing! It's a bit surreal seeing where we ended up after all of the creative work we did to earn our degrees.

I really liked college. It's really strange and cool all at once how Facebook is connecting so many of us again. The same groups of people who worked together on projects are forming again. We're posting pictures, audio, old schedules and now video records of our time there. I'm wondering if that is going to lead to anything. At the least, it's been fun reconnecting with these people, seeing their family photos, and how they have changed and remained the same.

radio, wcvf, cool things, fredonia
