Been a long day

Emma and I went to IKEA this morning. Quite the place. Very overwhelming. While I do not mind home furnishing stores, this can be too much. Just followed the line on the map. I mostly looked while she picked out a bunch of stuff.

Got to put together a bedside stand, which was quite easy. We also got a bookshelf, which was a bitch and a half. I do not like allen wrenches and bolts that screw into wood with them. Makes my thumbs all red and my hands hurt. It's done now though and it looks good.

We then went to Jungle Jim's. Been wanting to go here for eighteen years and finally made it. It's the North Market magnified by about twenty. There is a post office in there. I can see going down here about twice a year, just to pick up IRN-BRU. The grocery selection is about average, but the reason to go is for the stuff you can't get in Columbus. We did not have the time or energy to explore the produce, bakery, seafood, etc. - but that looked like a very good selection. I thought the wine and beer was a decent selection, with a VERY lacking German selection. I asked if they had New Glarus, but they don't have a wide distribution. We found a Scottish ale with seaweed tossed into the wort. Also found a bottle of Quady Electra and a decent bottle of 2005 Bordeaux. Their international departments are excellent. Emma sighed a lot at the British section. We picked up all kinds of sodas. Burdick, IRN-BRU, Lilt, Thums up cola and a lemon-lime equivalent from India. Got a true shandy and a can of Vimto. Also a small bottle of durian extract, which may be used like smelling salts. The prize was a bottle of Grandpa Lundquist's Julmust. It's some winter beverage that scares the crap ot of me, but I'll try just about anything once.

Took some pictures and will post eventually.

Right now I'm killing the cellar with a bottle of 1993 Graacher Himmelreich Eiswein 1993 from Dr. Pauly Bergweiler. Damn raisiny, very sweet, very intense. Gorgeous amber/copper color. Quite viscous and syrupy.
