our country was once great
and that's because we looked to God
now look at us
we try to reason everything
not to mention everything is relative
and we all know everything,
our logic is perfect
(this was said sarcastically, just in case you didn't catch it hah)
i've come to realize how prideful i am lately...
who are we to consider ourselves equal to or greater than God?
Phillipians 2:5-11
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death-
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
our nation is one big pot of selfish, prideful, arrogant stew.
instead of looking to our own logics, or to which party may run the economy better, shouldn't we be looking towards Christ and following His commands?
we're so busy looking at these things that we forget to look to Christ who is THE answer...the way the truth and the life.
are you spending your days honoring God and His word or yourself?
because i for one have been honoring myself
and for that i am ashamed
(and don't forget,
often honoring yourself and being prideful in yourself can arise from good things as well)
praise God for still calling us His beloved despite our disobedience and foolishness
pray for our nation,
not in the way you want it to change
but asked God to do His will
and to work in and through our lives
p.s. i just read this after i had type all this up...it's from My Utmost for His Highest (December 9)
"It is not a question of giving up sin,
but of giving up my right to myself,
my natural independence, and my self-will.
This is where the battle has to be fought...
Jesus said, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself...'(Matthew 16:24).
That is, he must deny his right to himself,
and he must realize who Jesus Christ is before he will bring himself to do it.
Beware of refusing to go to the funeral of your own independence."
