At the new Kiokushitaka hot springs place, I suddenly had a vision. I hadn't really done that much, I'mnot sure what triggered it... All I had done was go check out the female-only bath, and play that lottery. Maybe there really is something supernatural about that hot spring water... *is definitely going to go in for another dip later*
((Of course, it was the lottery that did it, but we can't have people figuring it out *that* fast, can we? :D))

In that run-down town, I had made friends. We all helped each other to survive. We were family.
But it was far too tough a life for them.
I stood with my one remaining friend beside their graves, gazing out at the Court of Pure Souls in the distance.
"Renji... Let's become shinigami."
If we lived over there, we could have a good life. We had even shown talent in using spirit energy. And...it was the only way to escape that place.
Renji agreed with me. We applied to enter the Academy soon after.
