Nuns, Monks, Angels, Turtles and Snakes

So summer has just begun and I figure I might as well update the 4 people who will read this.  For those that don't know, I am staying in Ithaca this summer. I can't complain.  I get paid to relax and watch movies.  Now that I actually have money, I'm hoping that I will be able to do some traveling to NYC and Boston sometime in late June or July.  But for now I am in Ithaca.

Last week was Ithaca Fest, which is basically to celebrate that all the college kids left.  It started with a parade on Thursday and despite the rain, it was amazing.  It had to be one of the weirdest parades I've ever seen.  My boss, Sybil, was even in it.  Riding her scooter.  Dressed as a nun.  That pretty much sums up how the parade was.  It had stuff like a chainsaw marching band.  It was a lot of fun and was very "Ithaca".

Movie wise I have been seeing something in the theater pretty much every week.  It gets expensive, but I have one of those Regal Cards so at least I have been getting free food and a free ticket now and then.  Plus you can't beat the theater experience.  So far I've seen Da Vinci Code, X-men 3, Over the Hedge and I'll be seeing Cars this weekend.  Da Vinci Code was really well done, but I wasn't too impressed by it.  I think reading the book may have ruined the movie, since I knew everything that was going to happen.  I did like a lot of the visuals they did though, especially when it showed Tom Hanks trying to figure out the puzzles. Good stuff.  X-men 3 was another movie that was great to look at, but I didn't really like the script.  They did a lot  in a short amount of time and it got hectic.  There also wasn't a lot of character development, which was disappointing.  Some characters were introduced and then were only in like 2 scenes.  I wasn't too impressed by it.  But then again, it did break records so what do I know.  Surprisingly the best movie I've seen so far was Over the Hedge.  But that just might be because I'm a kid at heart.  Who knows.

Even though everything I've seen has been pretty good, I can't wait for August 18th.  Samuel Jackson + Snakes + Plane=

It is also good to know the world didn't end today.  I've still got a lot I want to do before the worlds ends.

apocalypse, snakes on a plane, work, movies
