Seriously, wtf? It seems kinda random that he's gay XD; Maybe J.K. Rowling needed some new smut fics to read, so she let this slip as a big HINT HINT to fanfic writers. I bet you five bucks she sits in her jammies and reads Harry Potter Porn in the morning while sipping a cup of tea, and decided that Dumbledore/Harry didn't get enough love or something or other.
I'm just being silly there, but it does seem entirely random since it wasn't revealed in the books. Then again, I can certainly understand WHY it was never revealed in the books. We're getting most of the story from Harry's perspective... do students ever inquire about a teacher's love life..? Not really I guess, unless the teacher reveals he or she went on a "hot date" last night or something. Even then, I don't think most students want to hear about the sexual orientation of an old man like Dumbledore.
...Although that Rita Skeeter Chapter mentioned in book 7 seems to make more sense now XD; It really does need to be written down.
