Greetings, friends!

I feel so old! I've had this journal since I was, what, 15? 14? And I still find myself dropping by the site once in awhile to ramble about life and myself. Someday I'll be 70+ years old with crippling arthritis, pecking at the keyboard with one snaggle finger, informing you all about the weather, bowel movements, and the level of pain and discomfort I'm in. Just keep that in perspective when you read my journal now, and think my life is distastefully boring :D IT COULD BE SO MUCH WORSE.

Life Perks:

1) I moved to 2nd shift at my job. LOVE this. Hard to believe I've been working there for a year and a half already, especially considering I've uttered the words "I hate my effing job" every day for the past 15 months.

2) Met some fantastic new friends, Miranda and Jason. They are my exploration crew. Nearly every day we sojourn on an outdoor adventure of mild to treacherous proportions. Night hiking is quickly becoming one of my favorite hobbies. Last night we climbed 80 feet to the top of some cliffs, then burrowed our way down to the underside of a bridge overlooking a local waterfall, then forged our way through some forest along a crick. We've also explored some cool places in Milwaukee, and have the entire summer ahead of us for more. I've been grateful for the exercise, the fantastic scenery, the thrill, and the amazing company.

3) Been fishing! Have both of my poles set up with new 10lb test line, the tackle is sufficiently organized, and I've caught my first fish (and mosquito bites) of the summer already. It's going to be a great summer! I'd like to start topwater night fishing off the Milwaukee river after work. Can't think of many more relaxing ways to wind down after a 9 hour shift.

4) Put a bunch of music on my phone, and set Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" as my universal ringtone. This brings me a shameful amount of joy.

5) A few weekends ago, I went up to visit Aubree for the first time in over 3 years. Been in a great mood ever since. I'd missed her horribly. Hopefully we can spend time together again soon. :)

6) I've met this fantastic gal that I am undeniably super-fond of. Normally, I can be dangerously smooth with women, breaking hearts and forgetting names (not that I'm proud of that, or entertain that as intent), but when I'm around her I start stammering, blushing, and losing all of my "cool". I have to try to not gawk and stare at how beautiful she is. I don't know why she still hangs out with me, to be honest :D because I'm sure I come off like a ridiculous n00b. I haven't been this utterly taken with someone in yeeeaarrrrs. The excitement is intoxicating! For now, I'm completely content with getting to know her and spend time with her; whatever happens (or does not happen) in the future will unfold organically. I'm just enjoying the simplicity of delight, and the complexity of her loveliness. /stupid grin and sigh :P

Life Non-Perks:

1) Was involved in my first car accident. MY POOR RED BABY. It crushes my heart to see my unfortunate little Cougar all banged up in front. Fortunately, the accident was 100% the other driver's fault, and her insurance has to pay for my car repairs, the medical bills for my concussion, and compensate me for the time I have missed from work due to the concussion. The process will require some time, energy, and inconvenience, but ultimately a price worth paying if it means my car will be repaired virtually free of cost to me.

2) Not sure what exactly went wrong with Alex. When we started dating last month; he was telling me he'd been in love with me for years, that I was the only woman he wanted to be with, that he cared about me *so* much. I told him I am still a bit gun-shy with men, and if he wanted to be with me, he'd have to be patient and understanding; that if he COULDN'T be, then we shouldn't be together. I've accepted that I have some issues with intimacy and don't mind being alone if it would be a problem. He didn't care, was all for it. Excited, giddy even. A few weeks passed. Then we spent some time together when I was feeling self-conscious and not particularly affectionate, and ever since that time, he started acting like a typical asshole. We discussed what had happened, but the communication and honesty I put out didn't seem to be of consequence. Then he ignored me for a week. When I asked why he was ignoring me, he got pissy and broke up with me. I asked him if we would still be friends, and he hasn't responded in over a week now. *shrugs* I suppose, in the end, he was just like any other guy I've encountered in the relationship realm: they get what they want, then they move on. Was it revenge for when I broke up with him a few years ago? Maybe I'll never know, but I'm not going to dwell on it. I have no desire to be with someone who lacks the ability to be open, honest, and communicative. I also, admittedly, have very little patience for unexplained mood swings and passive-aggressive retaliation. I'll miss the friendship dearly, but this is what it is and I'm not going to pour effort into a hopeless cause.

3) Can't really think of anything else noteworthy of negativity. Life's pretty full of win.

Today Miss Kate, Willip, and I are going to a local flea market :D Been looking forward to seeing them all week long! After that, the adventures of the day are up for grabs, but if life continues today as it has been, I have no doubt it will be a day filled with adventure and love and fulfillment.

I hope you are all well, and in good spirits! I have to go attempt to make myself look like a decent human being and put some damned clothes on.
