I had a job interview today and may have a second interview sometime in the near future. I have a trip planned that will start on Monday and was scheduled to go for about two weeks. My dilemma is whether I should cancel or delay the trip to await the results of my interview or take the trip and risk missing the second interview (assuming that there is one).
I want to take the trip and don't anticipate a second interview happening until another week, at least. They have offered me a range of dates for interviews before (usually three days) and will not get back to me until Tuesday at the earliest. So, the earliest late date for the interview would be Friday, July 23rd. Still, they are interviewing other candidates next week, so the second company will not likely make their decision until the end of the week. This means that the range for the second interview will probably be from July 26-28, if not later (assuming that there is a second interview in the first place).
I will need to change my flight before the end of the weekend, so I hope to make my decision tonight. It may be possible to do a phone interview for the second company, which would not even require me being in Los Angeles to interview. I am leaning towards taking the trip and being ready to change the return date to as early as a week from when I depart. There is no reason why I should not have a couple of days notice, which will give me time to fly back. So, I feel that I have no reason to cut the trip shorter than a week.
