Q: I would be interested in your thoughts on how we, as Christians, are called to respond to relationship with community differently than a non-Christian (or non-religious/spiritual person).

What does that mean? I hear people say to love others, or serve God, or give, but I don't know what that means. What are you supposed to do?

Sometimes all that means is to give someone you know a smile and ask them how their day was.

Jesus Himself was asked a variant of this question, and responded with the parable of the Good Samaritan.

And of course, He gave us His version of the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you'd have them to do to you.

@Lisa - Great sermon, better than any I've heard in church! You've covered a lot of ground very quickly and efficiently.

Getting to the 'doormat' problem, "Love your neighbor as yourself" means you need to love/respect yourself AS WELL AS your neighbor.

'Having those skills means we have even greater responsibility.' c.f. Luke 12:47-8

100% on target. Well said.
