I took off work on Friday and didn't go to a CON!! Can you believe it? LOL
I slept until I got bored of sleeping, which was like 12:30 pm.
I doused myself in Skin-so-Soft (for bugs), then Baby & I went to the Botanic Gardens.
I totally love flowers. I spent at least 2 hours in the rose garden, then I spent an hour in the English walled garden.
Oh, if only Baby could have come in with me. It's so hard to leave him. (See prior post.)
So instead, I took a tram ride that showcased the entire property. There's so much to see.
One day in the autumn, I'll take a walk in the forest.
Maybe on a cool summer day I'll visit the experimental beds on the far side of the property. (Keep it clean, folks.)
And if ever I actually leave the office at a decent hour, I'll be able to enjoy some of the weekday evening activities.
A girl can dream, can't she?
Then on the way home I wanted to stop somewhere for dinner. My aunt had recommended a new place, so because she is a very respectable person with good taste I chose that restaurant. Because I was dining alone, I went to the bar to eat.
OMG - first of all, the wait staff were practically naked. Don't get me wrong. I love naked people - it's just that I
prefer people to have clothing on where people are eating!! Then I was handed a menu. It was Ponderosa-like. Definitely not the quality I was expecting. Then I waited and waited for a wait person to return so I could ask her if I was given the real menu or just the bar menu. When I got tired of waiting I walked out of the place. The fact that is was also a hangout for affluent men pretending to be blue-collar had nothing to do with that decision!! Honestly, sleaze is sleaze no matter whose name is on the label of their clothing. Bleaczh.
After that I was put off from eating, so I went to the movies instead. I saw "After Earth" with Will Smith and son. It had a "Hunger Games" feel to it and I really enjoyed it; not boring, but not invoking too much stress on me. Yes, I could poke a hundred holes in it, but the plot was entertaining and that was all I wanted from the movie.
Overall I had a wonderful day.
Right now I'm off for middle-of-the-night grocery shopping. I'm out of milk. Any excuse to spend more time with Baby. The place I intend to go is 45 minutes away - this is the only place that carries $2 pizza with pepperoni+veggies (I hate sausage) AND organic cottage cheese (anyone who knows me knows I'm sensitive to dairy products tainted by steroids and antibiotics). I've also got to prepare for my day out tomorrow. After gaming, Janmagic and I are going to watch the full moonrise at Montrose Beach, so we'll need beach/picnic food and furniture. I am *so* looking forward to tomorrow.
