Happy Weekend F-List!

Good day!

1) Scout came home, safe and sound.  The literal first thing she did on arriving home was to get in the shower, mumbling something about a sugar fight.  I don't wanna know.  She did have a tick on her head, but having grown up on five wooded acres in Wisconsin, I'm immune from tick freakage.  There were some days in the summer when I'd pull forty ticks off myself after coming in from playing out in the pines and tall grasses.  We looked it up online (female lone star tick).  Little disease vectors, but not much to do beside pull it off.  She is now at her BFF's birthday sleepover, leaving us with yet another child-free evening.

2) Chapter 107 of Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge aka The Wallflower aka Perfect Girl Evolution came out.  YAY  More romantic plot advancement than the last chapter, so happy me.  I haven't posted much yet on this series.  I watched the anime and read the manga obsessively in January.  It's a shoujo manga about a freaky goth horror movie loving high school girl named Sunako.  Her aunt, who is rich, absent, and has four high school boys living in her mansion, makes a deal with the boys--if they can turn her niece into a perfect lady, she will let them stay rent-free.  They think it sounds like a good set-up until they meet Sunako, who, in addition to loving creepy things and hating beautiful people (all the boys in the house are gorgeous bishies and referred to as Princes by everyone), has no desire to change who she is.

While high school settings are not my normal area of interest, I ate this manga up.  I identified with Sunako so much--she's basically me, in high school.  Dressed in black, not wanting to draw attention to herself, she isn't a bad seed at all, just wants to be left alone to enjoy her horror movies and spooky stuff.  The four boys quickly learn that the job won't be easy and their efforts to get Sunako to change are overshadowed by genuinely liking her as a friend and person.  But one of them, Kyouhei, though he thinks she's a weirdo, he doesn't see any point in her changing.  He accepts her as she is, weirdness and all.  He would rather she stay true to herself than change who she is to please others.  He of course becomes the eventual romantic interest.  This manga moves really really slowly with lots of repeated storylines and lots of little happening for volumes.  But when something happens, it is so sweet :)   It has been a gradual progression of Sunako gaining confidence in herself and Kyouhei learning to trust people, one that has plenty of humor along the way and a shitton of unresolved sexual tension...that will hopefully be resolved one of these days!  I like it because it isn't just a typical Cinderella/Ugly Duckling story where the plain jane character gets a makeover and turns beautiful and everyone then realizes how amazing she was all along.  Sunako may be intimidated by attractive, popular people, but she has no desire to be like them and doesn't crave their acceptance.  It's not that she is rejecting normal stuff as much as she fine with what is normal for her.

3) My BPALs came!  The imps were Cobra Lily (already have it), Dragon's Blood (I have imps of two other from the Ars Draconis series and a bottle of Dragon's Musk, so this was a good addition), Peitho (love it), #20 Love Oil (it's okay), Aizen-Myoo (like it a lot), and Whoso List to Hunt, which I may end up getting Stuart a full bottle of.  Ranger is pretty awesome--super woodsy and green.  Love it on him.  The Lady of Shallot is quite floral, something that I think of more as a daytime scent rather than a Tie Me Up And Fuck Me scent, though Stuart said he thought it was just fine for sexytimes.

My BPAL stash, now with Visual Aids!

My vintage makeup table, with perfumes, copper piggie bank, and funky earring holder my friend Dana made.

BPAL close up.

Imp drawer.  Yep...I've got a few.

Didn't get that much writing done, but all good because I've got all evening.

manga, yay, photos, bugs, cool stuff, family
