Summary: Nakamaru had had a lot of firsts since joining JE.
A/N: Plotbunnies, please to be leaving me alone when I'm trying to sleep? Inspired by....well, a not-very-restful sleep and being woken at 5.30am by said plotbunny hijacking my brain.
FIRSTS
Nakamaru Yuichi had had a lot of firsts since joining Johnny's Entertainment. The first was when he'd been accepted.
"Congratulations, Nakamaru Yuichi-kun. Welcome to Johnny's Entertainment," Kitagawa-san himself had announced, prompting a relieved smile from Nakamaru and small cheer from those who'd been announced before him.
He'd made the man repeat it, just so he could wrap his head around the good news before going to call his parents. Then his first performance as a Johnny's Junior.
"Introducing Nakamaru Yuichi, one of the newest Johnny's Juniors! Put your hands together for...."
Despite his good memory, he no longer remembered the name of the headlining act for that performance. Possibly because it had been followed by so many more in quick succession that it was all he could do to keep his head (and body) together.
One first he was sure he would never forget was when they'd first formed KAT-TUN under Domoto Koichi.
"Nakamaru-kun. Can I have a word?" Domoto-senpai had asked him politely, then proceeded to tell him he'd been chosen, together with Kamenashi Kazuya, Akanishi Jin, Taguchi Junnosuke, Tanaka Koki, and Ueda Tatsuya to form his new back-dancing unit of KAT-TUN for Pop Jam.
To say he'd been shocked and surprised, and not a little dismayed would be an understatement. He'd recognised Kamenashi and Akanishi's names from the audition, but the others were still fairly unknown to him at that time. Despite being sociable and easy-going, he'd had a hard time of it at first, trying to keep the peace between the various differing temperaments involved.
Their first performance as a proper unit, their first solo concert, their first tour...it all was a blur of firsts, until the best and most welcomed first had come sneaking into his life. His first lover.
"Yucchi...wanna go out with me?" The question had caught Nakamaru by surprise, especially given who it had come from but he nodded and smiled all the same.
There was mutual attraction born of many years together as friends which had blossomed slowly into something more as they got to know each other. Soon it became apparent to anyone with eyes that there was something more between them and it made their bandmates smile fondly at the pair who seemed so oblivious to it all.
They were an unlikely pair, but that didn't mean much to them; their feelings were all that counted at the end of the day and Johnny milked it for all it was worth, not that he'd tell them that, of course. As long as they were discreet, he'd turn a blind eye.
Discreet they certainly were; no-one outside of the group knew there was anything going on, though they were sure some had their suspicions. The fans certainly did, from all the rumours popping up wherever they went.
He had no idea when it had begun to unravel for them, but eventually they went from being lovers to merely good friends again. So came another first. His first broken heart. Throwing himself into his work, he tried his best to forget about it, honing his talents and passion for beat-boxing and comedy until other firsts came to fade the pain.
His first solo performance, his first drama, his first movie. Pretty exciting stuff when he thought about it, but it all faded into the background with a single call.
"Yucchi....I miss you. Wanna go out with me again?"
This time there were only seconds - a second chance that they both grasped with open hearts and wiser heads.
"Yes."
