It has come to my attention that there is an ongoing debate as to the legitimacy of these letters we've received. I have taken a neutral standpoint on the matter, but would like to open a dialogue with the residents

I am less a theoretical scientist than a practical one, but I have read about similar theories in my world. It would explain, for example, how Flonne was taken from before she met Adell, but Adell still remembers her.
If that were the case, it would mean that all of us are from different worlds, even those of us that know each other.
Exactly! Which means that the idea that "time stands still" while we are here may or may not be true. For all we know, time is still chugging right along in our own worlds, meaning there may be more merit to those letters than initially believed.
I do not know. That is what has perplexed me so... These accusations of illusion and other trickery simply lies far beyond my scope of powers.
Consider the theory, however, it is possible that from their realities, their absence caused some sort of event that sent me over the edge. Had I obtained some sort of power that I currently do not have, I could see the merit in their accusations... but how does one prove that they cannot do something?
[Actually, though Kurtis doesn't want to admit it, that theory has a lot of merit.]
That is a strong possibility, and one that I can't ignore. It would explain everything except why Edgar would kill Terra, and why she would claim that it was you.
[If only there were a way for one side or the other to offer proof...]
Keep in mind that should this theory prove true, that would mean that the Edgar here is not the Edgar that Terra knows. There could very well have been something that happened that caused him to become unbalanced.
I have also posed the possibility that the Malnosso were behind the incident, as he was in their custody at the time of the attack... it could be part of the Malnosso's experiment regarding him, channeling a power through him or manipulating his mind, or both.
As to why she would accuse me, I am just as baffled as you are.
[It's times like this that Kefka takes pride in his ability to be an exceptionally effective liar.]
Yes, that does make sense. Edgar attacking Terra as a result of a Malnosso experiment, Terra assuming it was you. If that were the case, we'd need to figure out whether Edgar is still under the influence of whatever caused him to attack Terra.
[Kurtis thinks Kefka is lying. Occam's razor would suggest it, anyway. But it does make sense, and Kurtis can't ignore that. He considers it a good idea to keep talking to Kefka, to find some sort of proof, either in Kefka's favor or against him.]
Indeed. I have been investigating to that effect, however, I have been able to find no evidence one way or the other...
[Having used that same tactic on others in an interrogation setting, he's not falling for it. His responses are going to be rather truncated from here on.]
That leaves me with two options. Either I can try talking to Edgar myself, and see if I learn anything, or talk to one of others who knows him well. Since I don't know him, I might not recognize signs of the Malnosso's influence, but if the others learn that I've been talking to you, they probably won't listen.
If that were the case, it would mean that all of us are from different worlds, even those of us that know each other.

By the way, I'm Kurtis. I don't think we've met.

...What can I help you with?

You still say their accusations are false, even after Terra's return? But why do you think they would lie?
