[There's a man in green armor peering at the journal, sword drawn, looking extremely pensive.]

...What matter of contraption is this!? Could this be another one of Kefka's doings!? I heard he was here... [Appears to be lost in thought until the feed times out.]

[Private to Sephiroth - Voice]

[When the voice starts, it is once again Kefka's.] ( Read more... )

You must be a new arrival. There's no need to worry about the book, but Kefka is indeed here.

Indeed... only been here a few days... Terra said as much... perhaps I can yet redeem myself...

But your journal only appeared today? That is unusual. But who knows why the Malnosso do anything they do?

My name is Kurtis. I have been assisting in the search for Kefka.

No... I arrived during that... ball or whatever it was. I had it with me upon arrival, but had attempted to destroy it, having thought it one of Kefka's contraptions. It just now reappeared before me.

Well met Kurtis. And while I appreciate the work towards finding Kefka, if it would be possible, I would like to strike at the villain.

...We have unfinished business with each other.

So you're from his world, as well. It is good to have another ally in the search for him.

Indeed I am. I actually was his replacement on the Empire's War Council. He was a good man, and I never dreamed that he could've fallen so far...

He was different before? I had heard he was used for an experiment...

[Kefka rolls his eyes before reopening the voice channel, never dropping the illusion.]

He was. He had a brilliant mind, and was a Magitek Engineer. In fact, our world owes much to him, like it or not. He was the first to discover the powering properties of electricity, single-handedly pulling our world from the dark ages where coal was all the energy we had.

And that, friend, was the tip of the iceberg, as they say.

Really? The others never mentioned that, but I imagine they were more concerned with the immediate threat.

Sadly, I know from personal experience how a brilliant mind can go wrong.

Indeed. Kefka and I go back farther than any of the others... at least the ones that I know are here... I spent the better part of twenty years working with him... and at one point had called him friend.

[There's a pause as Kefka rolls his eyes and mimes a wretching face.]

I can only imagine what pain he must have endured... few know it, but he has never worn makeup. Even after the Magitek infusion that proved to be the precursor to the break of his fragile psyche.

The process bleached his skin, and the red around his eyes are actually scar tissue, the abnormal color stemming from - what I presume anyway - the magical nature of the substance injected into his face.

Damn. What an awful experiment.

Yes... but it is precisely because he used to be my friend that I would request that if at all possible, he fall by my blade.

I wish it to be my atonement, for not ending his misery sooner.

If it is possible, I will make sure that your request is fulfilled.

...Might I ask to whom I speak?
