Crazy Ideas, Take Two!

Oct 24, 2007 08:45

Well, ok, I've had a lot more than two crazy ideas in my life. But that's beside the point.

First off, let's abuse the Marquee tag a little bit.

Happy Birthday marasca!

Also, Happy Birthday to the United Nations. Just because.

Right, all that's out of the way now. On to crazy stuff.

Last year I tried this crazy thing called NaNoWriMo. Yes, some of you may have heard of it. Basically, folks who like writing set themselves up with the challenge of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Specifically, the 30 days that November hath. It's an interesting challenge and exercise for folks who like writing for fun- the focus is on quantity over quality, so the end result is something that is not entirely pretty, but sometimes pretty funny.

So, like I said, I tried it last year. I even succeeded, which was surprising. So I think I'll do it again this year. I also opened up the floor to folks who were interested in torturing their eyes and brains reading what I'd written, and I'll do it again. So if you want to read crazy jibba-jabba, post a comment and I'll add you to the filter. Act now and you'll even get added to the filter where you can read last year's offering. It's a good chance for you to see what you're getting yourself into- if your brains melt into protoplasm reading the old one, you can likely predict your fate if you press onward.

(Note: Real and Serious Writers are totally exempt from this post. You know who you are.)

And, finally, because I can't make an entirely serious post, I'll leave you with this:

EDIT: Also, last night's big accomplishment was teaming up with my friend Chris and scoring double 100% playing "Shout at the Devil" on Guitar Hero II. Truly my life has no meaning. At least beer still loves me.

nano, birthdays
