Well, this is an interesting turn of events.
I just cancelled my Rift subscription - fortunately, just before the free month ended - and am currently in the process of reinstalling FFXI. For the infinitieth time. Eheheheh.
I need to read up on all the changes since I quit the infinity-minus-one-th time a while back... Is the level cap up to 99 yet...?
