Late Weekend Update: R.I.P.

Friday afternoon we went to Pro-Tax Consultants to get our taxes done. The guy is really nice and friendly, it's almost even fun to go there. The not fun part was the news that Tanya got a couple bucks return this year, compared to lots last year (but that was due to school credit). I got a return similar to the last couple years. The other bad news is that since we're now considered "common law", we will likely lose all of our GST credits. Bastards. Should have said we're roommates.

Saturday, I finally heard from Keith after several weeks without news. He phoned to invite us to Christy's (his gf of 4 months) for supper, and said he "had some news". So we went there. Kevin was there too, and Christy's mom and friend dropped by for a bit too, and left just before supper. And the big news was, pretty much as expected, that they got engaged. They're planning the wedding for next summer. So that was exciting. I'm happy for Keith; like me, it was a long time coming, and I guess he has now found the one.

After supper I dropped Tanya home, and went on to the Woodlawn Cemetery for our meetup's Cemetery Crawl and candle vigil event. 20 people showed up, which was excellent. First we went over to Fara's grave, where Jerek said a few words, and we left some flowers and candles. I almost said something too, but then I couldn't. I wanted to say that I was thankful for the time I had spent with her, and that I had a sort of bond with her because we were close to the same age and remembered some things from our shared era growing up and that was cool. Anyways after that we went to an open area, where Des talked about Tysene, our other meetup member who has passed away. He doesn't actually have a grave site (yet?) so that's why we just had to pick a spot. Jerek also said a few words. After that, we all just walked around a bit and hung out and chatted about music, upcoming parties, Chase/Walker's and the Underground. I think we're all excited about the new possibilities with Lisa/Liam's place. Dani showed up then, and when most of everyone who wass till there left to go to Olympia's, I didn't feel like it and went home.

Monday night was the first ball practice of the year. I sucked pretty bad. Missed a fly ball which landed on my wrist (ouch!), and when I was batting, I kept hitting the ball at the end of the bat, which vibrated my hands numb and hurting, which in turn made me more fearful of that happening, so then I did it even more or just barely touched the ball. Hopefully that's working better next time.
