I've had a lot of trouble finishing posts over the last year. I've started many, but never quite finished most. If something happens that needs my attention, or if I just run out of time to write, I'll post my entry visible to 'just me', with the intention of finishing it at some later point in time. Problem is, I've never gone back and ended one of these. They were either forgotten, or I'd lost my train of thought, or just my need to post that particular item. There are a bunch of "nether-posts" on my journal; some lengthy, others short. Most end mid-sentence, or mid-word, nearly finished, but not quite.
I've since decided that I like them this way, and don't intend to finish these posts. I might make them public at some point, but I'll never finish them.
I hope to finish this one. Let's see.
I just finished a bunch of yardwork, and probably fed every damn mosquito in the city. I didn't even notice them though. Didn't even notice the time pass. It was six, and then it was nine. Goes to show that time flies when you're having fun, odd as that may sound when yardwork is concerned. I really like working with plants, and hope to have a beautiful garden by next year. It'll be a task... after ten years of neglect, the yard had almost been retaken by the native flora. I've got it looking pretty nice now, though. I'm planning on having a bunch people over for dinner on July 24th after go-karting, and want the yard to look nice for it. Not that it'll be that memorable for most, as the next day is a bit more important.
July 25th. My marriage is looming ever closer. I'm not too excited at this point. Probably because I haven't had much of a hand in planning it. The honeymoon, however, is my baby. We'll be staying in a cabin on the Sunshine Coast, in Garden Bay, for a week. The place has a couple of rooms, a kitchen, a patio, and is right on the on the water. So many lakes to swim in, mountains to hike, and inlets and bays to paddle in. It's going to be downright rad.
As far as the wedding itself goes, everything is falling into place. We haven't gotten a lot of RSVP's back, but I'll be calling a bunch of the non-responders to follow-up/break legs. There are a lot of little things to take care of in the next month. Kat's coming on the 13th, and will help with a lot of it, plus she's really good at energizing the people around her. I'm looking at the whole thing as more of a big party between our families and dearest friends. A party with a lot more planning, sure, but a shindig nonetheless. I'm not kidding myself on who's side of the family will be doing more partying, but I think my kin will bring hers out of their shells. I hope so, at least.
Speaking of family, I spent the afternoon with my dad and brother yesterday. We played pool and drank beer, then watched a movie. It was the first time in over ten years that the three of us were together in one room; it was really great. I hang out with Nate all the time, and go out for dinner with dad every couple of months, but us three together? It was like old times. We'll have to do that more often... dad got pretty emotional about it, but I'm sure she'll get used to it after hanging out a few times.
I'm due for bed now. I miss updating my LJ. I'm going to try to post more oft
