D.O. Pediatrician + Wisdom Teeth
I have another job shadow tomorrow! It's with a pediatrician at the same medical center Dr. Posch works at. He's a D.O. which is really cool because then I can ask him a bunch of questions about osteopathic medicine. Hear it from a DO himself. Through my research I determined that osteopathic medicine in the current day is really close to allopathic and Dr. Posch seems to think the same, saying that they're essentially identical now. I would currently prefer to go to an allopathic school even though I've heard good things from both sides. I feel like people on the West Coast don't really get much exposure to DOs and might not understand that they are just as qualified as MDs to do anything. Their schools are easier to get into though.
So that's a win-win. He's a pediatrician, and I haven't seen a pediatrician yet, and I haven't shadowed a DO yet either so it'll be a really cool experience that gives me a really big opportunity to ask a lot of questions. I'm excited and he seems to be a really energetic doctor so that's good.
In dental news, I went to the dentist today for a cleaning and to talk about the necessity of my wisdom teeth removal and it looks like I pretty much need to do it now. One tooth needs to be done right away and the other three would be in the near future anyways so I'll be getting all of my wisdom teeth out this week! I am currently scheduled for Thursday.
The first drug I'll be getting is Halcion, and I take it half an hour before my appointment. It's a tranquilizer and apparently I won't be able to remember the procedure for the most part. So I get to have my dad drive me there and back while I'm all sedated and probably loopy. Then I get my Vicodin, which is the hydrocodone/acetominophen that I get to take every six hours! I've never been drugged up before so this should be quite the experience. I'll probably be phoning some people and sending some texts in my stupor which should be good fun for all.

Although I do stuff like that when I'm hyper. Just a little quicker, with better enunciation, and a little less Jesus talk :P
