HOLY SHIT, and before I forget, the Something Corporate concert ROCKED, even without Juliana Theory. I've never been so wet and hot and sweaty in my whole life, but I was DAMN happy about it. The first band, Harry Dash, was pretty damn awesome, I kinda liked them.
The second band, Vendetta Red, had bad music but the most awesome stage presence ever. I mean, this guy looked WILD, with curly blonde hair that was just all over the place. Screaming, with the microphone all over the place...he kept jumping onto the crowd, letting us carry him around for a while...he hung from the roof like a flippin monkey and then dropped on us...at one point, I had my arm up (there was no room in the pit for me to put it down) and I was one of the tallest people there...he just grabbed my hand, looked at me and screamed the chorus of the song into the microphone....it was SOOOO awesome.
Band number 3, steel train, was a nice, chill, funk band but definitely out of place...lounge-singer type thing...
And then...drum roll please...Something Corporate! I spotted Andrew before the set started, and since my head came above everyone elses, he saw me too...made eyecontact and flashed me the biggest, funniest smile I've ever seen. I just rolled my eyes and indicated that he should start the set already, we were DYING in the pit...by the time Something Corporate got onstage, it was so hot there that you could see the steam rising off our bodies. The set started with Konstantine, beautiful, and Andrew kept leaning into the audience, arms holding him up, it was magnificent. Once they played Punk Rock Princess I got the hell out of there, tho. The crowd was pushing us way too hard (I was in the 3rd row of people away from the stage, it's killer there), and I was about to pass out. Went outside, met jaja and ladoo and cooled down, nice.
It was crazy wet in there...we were so dehydrated, they kept throwing bottles of water into the crowd, we all shared. It was nice, at one point someone said "it's like we're one big happy family" and it was true cuz all the people surrounding me up front kept looking out for everyone else...we shared water, tried to give each other space and made nice conversation. It was really really nice...at the time I wondered if I was even enjoying it, but looking back and remembering the lights and the people and the music, being so close to it all, being such a part of it, it was DEFINITELY worth it.
