The American Repertory Theater company has been a big part of my life recently. Starting with Sleep No More, which I *still* go on about, and encompassing a number of great theatrical experiences since, I've been seeing a lot more of Boston than usual.
Beginning last night and going through this Wednesday, I'm participating in something a little different. I'm a part of an ensemble for the production tech. week for a new opera called Death and the Powers. there are robots and lights everywhere and it already looks pretty cool. They're still working out the blocking and that's where myself, Kevin, and about 30 other people come in. It's more physical than I'd imagined (less moving set pieces and more moving other people) but I'm somehow dealing with it mentally. This is very out of my comfort zone. And then there's the fact that something is still amiss with my lower back, to the point that I can't put much pressure on it or move in any extreme fashion without pain. Again, I'm dealing but it's no cakewalk.
I'm just hoping that my back can deal with the 3 straight days of rehearsal that I have coming up. By the looks of it, we'll be spending less time on stage now that it's been blocked out (thank goodness) and more time actually sitting through the tech for the rest of the thing. That should be neat to watch at least. Here goes...
