Ham, and Jam, and SPAMalot

It was a whirlwind weekend, last 4 days really...

Thursday was the battle of the bands with Shryne. It feels like it was a month ago! It was stressful as all heck with the sound system being screwed up and a band dropping and a number of other things. Nevertheless, Shryne won and they're advancing (February 12th @ Legends Rock Bar in Gales Ferry, CT. Mark your calendars!) so it was all worth the craziness.

Friday was a nutty day at work that wasn't made any better by the minimal amount of sleep I got the previous night. Thankfully, I didn't have to drive home and back to work. Jon, your couch is amazing.

Despite having a morning full of errands planned out for Saturday I only woke up thanks to Ant calling at 2. A shower and a cup of Count Chocula later, I was out the door for the Shryne show. I ended up picking up both Ant and Alex before getting everyone together and heading out to New Bedford. As expected, the show was pretty much a crap shoot but we did make the contact with the owner that we hoped for going in (in the last 10 seconds we were there, no less). 4am is not an appropriate bedtime for me anymore. Damn you, 9-5.

Sunday was SPAMalot day. Ran down to Riverside to get Alex, got to Kennedy Plaza, found out that our bus was canceled so we'd take one a half hour later and 2 hours longer, got lunch, and finally got on the bus. It took FOREVER. We got there and ran over to the theater to meet Jess. And for the first time that weekend, I sat down and just chilled out for a while. I laughed so hard I was in tears at a couple of points. It was doubly funny given that it was the closing performance. Among other things, Alex and I had a particularly good laugh over "Umbrella" being dropped into "Find Your Grail." Eric Idle, David Hyde Pierce, and Clay Aiken, in addition to pretty much the entire original cast showed up for bows. It's an experience I won't forget anytime soon I'm sure. Somehow I ended up home a full 2 hours earlier than the previous night despite traveling much longer. Go figure.

So that's the rather mundane update for the sake of an update. Woo.
