Dealing with the school:
Schedule a meeting, go in person, bring any documentation you have. Do not blame the person you meet, chalk it up to some paperwork SNAFU. Explain that it is time sensitive and you'd like to know how to verify when the changes have been made. You don't have to stay there, but you DO have to follow up and make sure that it gets fixed. That means get the number for the person you met and call, go in and ask for the transcript.

Dealing with the parents:
Acknowledge a "life lesson." Sure, you made the request three months ago, but then what did you do? You trusted that some low-level paper-pusher in a community college processed the request and got all the approvals necessary to do something suspicious and unusual to a student's permanent record. "You never took those classes you failed? Yeah, we hear that a lot. Put your name in the bin and we'll get to it..." Life should be so easy, but it's not.

It's not your fault the bureaucracy failed you, but it IS your fault that you didn't follow up and verify the change.
Whenever you modify ANY records, it is imperative to verify them! Buying property, getting a divorce, move-in checklists for apartments. When I moved in to my apartment, I wanted to make a note of an existing stain on the carpet. "Sure, we'll put that in your records." A couple days later, I asked to see my file and sure enough, it wasn't in there. At that point I made them change it in front of me, copy the page, and sign the copy. I wouldn't have checked if I hadn't stumbled a few times through life. I'm sure your parents just want to hear that you've learned that you have to stay on top of these things to make sure they get done.

Good luck at Catawba!
