[It didn't take chaos long from waking up to realize something seemed off somehow.  It wasn't that he was back in Mayfield, he wasn't quite sure if he'd actually left, but he knew the dates were way off from what they had been the last time he recalled, and he had tended to keep track pretty steadily.  The images in the house also seemed different

There isn't much to tell. I'm missing somewhere over a month of time from here in Mayfield.

A few of them. I was told there was a communist scare, that Jane Smith and Officer Grady had been killed, Grady while looking for a communist named Evan Olney. That and it seems Mayfield pulled something on everyone again, relating to secrets. Was this all, or was there more?

I wonder if he meant no one as in those who were originally here, such as himself, Lucy and the Mayor, or those who have been drawn here. I also wonder, then, how a permanent death is brought about for them, as it would help to explain what they are...

I'm sorry you were losing so many... [He pauses here, giving a moment of silence almost, before continuing] Tell me, what was the situation in which he said this? Was it during what might be considered stessful for a normal person in his situation?

It isn't pity... More, I can understand the feeling...

Dying... in which case, his words may be true to some extent, although that is hard to say for certain. Yet, I feel some of what is said during these sorts of situation must hold some fraction of truth.

Yes. And before the month or so gap in my memory, right around the time of the Dairy, someone I know from home became droned and it seemed permanent. Considering what we found to be a probability at that time... [He trails off, since he is pretty sure she'll understand]

Unfortunately, his words would line back up with what was found back then to be possible...
