Ode to Archaea, in 3 parts.

1.Human drama is annoying me. As is the vapid mundane convesations that keep occuring. In order to counter balance the depression that started to grow within, I turn even farther within, and study Taxonomy, with special emphasis on our evolutionary mothers and fathers, the beautiful, majestic, Archaea.

2.Quite possibly the oldest form of life, these beautiful one celled organisms are a class of there own, not plant, not animal, not fungi, not protists, they are the bringers of life, should the current scientific theories of the origins of life hold true... These are the ones that gave us their children, when in a time of inhospitable enviornment (methane gas, sulphur, no oxygen, no water), allowed us life! The first batch were autotrophs (self feeders, usually implying photosynthesis, which requires water, and sunlight, but these were special creatures...) Nitrous oxide, hydrogen sulfide, Carbon dioxide, these things were their food. They expelled in return, as waste methane and sulphur gasses. Then they evolved, in slight, some sects of this majestic root of life. The younger children began to expell water, which allowed the cyanobacteria (blue green alagae, one of the earliest eubacterias) life. They in turn, expelled oxygen. As time went by oxygen levels grew great enough to allow eubacteria and eukayrotic( Plant, Animmal, protists, fungi)life. The coolest thing is, these beautiful, simple, yet complex creatures are still around to day, living where no other life may live. They live in geysers, boiling water, salt, absolutely lovely to the extremophyles in this branch. Still others live within us, in symbiosis.

3.How wonderous, to know that first life dwells within
The beauty of the millenia
The renegade enzymes
United once to bring us forth
From simple chemistry the majesty of life unfolds
The arcane mother and father
Feeding in your intestine
Aiding the life it enabled
Gods amongst microbes
Gods amongst man
Our very world built on their shit
The humor of eternity and chaos
That one such thing
Could enable
All this
