So, I get home from school tonight to be told by my father that 'Ruger cracked his eyesocket'. I flip out and go to see him. There is what looks like a huge dent above his left eye. And he is RUNNING AROUND trying to bounce at me and lick my face. I freak out.
Apparently, he was doing his 'tear around the house' thing, rounded the corner, and ran FULL ON into Devin. Took him down. Also took himself down. Parents rush to my brother's side because he is not really getting up. Neither is the dog, really.
Well, a few moments later, the dog gets up and apparently starts freaking out yelping. Mother turns, sees that his nose is bleeding, and reaches out... only to notice that he looks like his head was hit with a little hammer.
I guess it took them a few minutes to calm him down, but then he seemed okay, except he seriously looks like his skull is caved in right there. Mother calls the traveling vet. Traveling vet says that there isn't anyplace that could do anything if he has a cracked skull and really the only thing to do is see if he starts showing signs of serious head trauma. He's out in Holly. Says he'll call back when he's done with his current appointment (yes, at 8 or so at night), and come out.
He calls back an hour later, has them send a picture, and has my mother feel up his skull to see if he's in any pain. Obe apparently tried to lick her face the whole time. He can't figure out why everyone keeps poking him. Finally one good thing about having two dogs; mother was actually measuring the dips and bumps in Mystic's skull and matching them to Obe's.
Since he isn't flinching, can see, can walk, isn't bleeding anymore, is eating, wants his ball, and in general is just not acting injured in the slightest, Vet thinks that his face and eye have just swollen a bunch from the impact, making his head look dented.
We're just supposed to watch him in case his eyesocket is actually cracked. Vet is going to come out tomorrow if he is acting even a little funny or if his eye actually swells shut.
