Chapter 1 - On one sunny day…
Author’s Note: Don’t worry, we’ll be getting to the main story soon enough! Don’t be impatient. Also, this story is set between the time skip, just so you know. Anyways, let’s get started.

13 year-old Umezaki Reirei’s life was uneventful in general. It had a few surprises here and there, but it wasn’t something that would make a great action story. Reirei preferred it that way, because while those adventures that fictional heroes went through were cool, she wouldn’t want to be in one of those herself.
It was finally summer vacation for her now, and that meant that she could finally get out of school and from the stress of academics towards weeks of fun and relaxation, just like every other normal person.
But Umezaki Reirei was not a normal person. Or at least, not yet.

It all began when Reirei was walking home. It was just like any other walk home, except Reirei was very anxious to get home today.
Suddenly, something strange lying on the ground caught her eye. Curious, Reirei went over to see what it was.
The object was a book, but it was an old one, with yellowing pages and a worn leather cover. Reirei brushed off the dust that was lying on it to see its title. It read “The Ninja Way”.
Just as Reirei was about to look in it, raindrops began falling onto her. Not having an umbrella, she hastily stuffed the book into her backpack and ran for home.
