J-music reviews

I know that doing reviews on lj without anybody on your friends list is completely useless, but I'm going to do it anyways:

Morning Musume - Chokkan 2~Nogashita Sakana wa Oukiizo!~ : I heard the album remix version, and I thought it was pretty good. However, the single version is even better!

I really like the intro scale (it sounds like one of those video game battle themes ^^) I haven't heard enough of Momusu to compare this to their other songs, but I think it' really, really catchy and poppy!  The B-side is just a regular pop song, but I guess it's still nice.

Rating: A

Morning Musume - Onna ni Sachi Are: This is another catchy Momusu song. Maybe when I hear another fifty of them, I might start getting tired of them, but not yet! The B-side is just another regular pop song.

Rating: A-

Nakashima Mika - CRESCENT MOON: After hearing some of her later works (MY SUGAR CAT, Sunao na Mama, Hitori), I'm really surprised how "heavy" Mika's voice sounds. Not too sure if I like it too much or not. Anyways, CRESCENT MOON is a regular jazzy pop song. I don't find it too great.

I like the B-side much better. It's much more upbeat and it also has some rapping (by some other guy, not Mika, of course). However, I think Mika's engrish lyrics are kind grating, but no that much.

Finally, there's Mika's cover of Amazing Grace. It's very pretty, but I think Mika sounds like she's forcing her voice out too much.
