The package is small and light, and is decorated with light blue paper and a glittery gold bow that's probably bigger than the box is.

Ah, here's my gift. That's...a large bow.

The box is hinged, like a flat jewelry box. Opening it, he'll find a piece of paper with a mess of flourishy handwriting, covering a small silver medallion. It features a woman, eyes to the heavens, lit from behind by a thunderbolt. The paper reads:

According to legend, St. Barbara was originally born a pagan, raised in a tower and sheltered from the world by her rich father. She converted to Christianity (a crime punishable by death in those days) and studied in secret without his knowledge, while he was away. This was a secret she could not keep forever, however, and was eventually found out. She kept the faith through all of her trials and torture, performing miracles at night in her cell, and in the end it was her father that carried out her death sentence ( ... )

[Ky stares at the note and the medallion in a mixture of awe and surprise.]

On further inspection of the package, he'd probably find some small clear gold drops scattered on the side of the package itself, as though accidentally splattered there and left to dry without realizing.

Closer inspection would find that those drops smell sweet and--if he's really brave--taste sweet too. Are they made of... sugar?
