Title: Nos and Flypaper
Fandom: Yu Yu Hakusho
Rating: T
Characters/Pairing: Mild Kurama/Hiei, Yusuke
Summary: Here there be crack. While Kurama is out, Hiei helps himself to a fridge full of Nos. Chaos ensues. Tail end of the madness through Yusuke's point of view.
It was the most unlikely thing he'd ever seen. So unlikely, in fact, that he had to close his eyes and re-open them twice before accepting what he saw as the reality. Even then, Yusuke felt a burning need to confirm the obvious.
“Is that--”
“Flypaper? Yes.” And it was flypaper. Roll upon roll, crisscrossed in the doorway to Kurama's living room to form a make-shift net. The brunette pulled his eyes briefly from the spectacle to rest them on Kurama, but he was only able to keep them there for a moment before the sheer oddity of the situation pulled them back again.
“And Hiei is hanging from it.”
“Yes.”
Right. Yusuke took a minute to absorb this, watching as the petite fire demon swung gently back and forth. He was upside
down, his spiky hair dangling three feet above the ground. His body was limp, but his eyes were burning up at his spectators like coals.
“He gave up on speaking about an hour ago. It would seem that he's content to glare silently now.” And, true to Kurama's word, Hiei had no response to this. Studying the fire demon more closely, Yusuke doubted that he was even listening. It looked as if he was too tired to keep his eyes open to glare at them, much less follow their conversation.
“It won't be long now.” Kurama said. “When he's asleep I'll take him down.” Yusuke was silent a moment, but he couldn't stop himself from asking the question.
“How did he get there?” This time when Kurama answered his ineffable calm was touched just slightly with both humor and irritation.
“It would seem that my younger brother left three or four cans of Nos lying in the fridge. I was out, and Hiei was thirsty, so naturally, he helped himself. When I came home the cans were on the floor and he was moving so fast that I couldn't even follow his after-image. Chasing him was obviously out of the question, so I had to devise some other means of capture. In the end, this seemed to work well enough.”
Yusuke stuttered.
“Four cans of Nos?! He's practically radioactive! I'm surprised he's not glowing!” Kurama eyed the fire demon ruefully.
“I know. And he's so small, it doesn't take much to get him wired. Luckily, his metabolism is so high that it doesn't last long. Now I'm just waiting for the crash.”
An odd note crept into the fox-cum-human's voice. Without knowing why, Yusuke became nervous.
“What do you intend to do with him once he's passed out?” The anxiety increased tenfold as green eyes flecked gold and Kurama flashed a small, youko-esque smirk.
“That's none of your concern, Yusuke. None of your concern...”
