Schoolwork on a lazy Sunday afternoon - projects for my reading classes. Its fun at times, reading books that I remember from years ago in the queer light of a heavy rainshower. The light comes from everywhere and nowhere, as if the very air is emitting it. Its strangely peaceful to sit and read with the steady sound of rain in the background.
Sitting and reading, munching on a midafternoon snack of celery and penut butter... still strange to be in a place I pay rent for. There are still odd moments like that - the funny realization that I'm doing what no elementary student would imagine, studying and going to class of my own accord, no longer forced to do so by the laws of the land. The realization that I've spent my last long period of time in my parent's house, that from here out I will only be a visitor there.
Its surreal, yet right.
And now I have to go back to that work, back to my books and charts, back to designing lessons and strategies. How did the child of two yuppie accountants come to stand on the other side of the teacher's desk, walking willinging into a life where I won't have half the means that my parents have?
Surreal.
