As Coach Miguelito said after the game, "Guys, with this win, I can confidently say that we remain... undefeated." He pulled down his pants after that. ;-)
When I talked to Joshua Henry, Gerard Canonico, and Brian Charles Johnson before this game, they all said that The Lion King softball team is good. I must admit, I got a little scared after the close call last week against
The Addams Family/MDQ. But it turns out, we have a REALLY awesome team here.
13 May 2010 was also the official opening ceremony of the Broadway Softball League. Million Dollar Quartet delivered a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. In the Heights' Corbin Bleu and Rock of Ages' Constantine Maroulis threw the first pitches.
Oh, and I am finally beginning to understand how this game is played. Haha, it took me a MONTH. Sorry, I'm a tennis player. LMAO.
Anyway, I brought my softball photo with me for them to sign. "Russell", "Buffalo", "
Aussie", "Vegan", "AD", and "Ohms" where there. [I missed A.D. -- he was there the whole time but I didn't catch him after the game.]
Christina Sajous was "silent cheering", writing down "GO IDIOTS!" on a piece of paper and waving that around. I lent her my Sharpie. :D According to Gerard (which I overheard when he was talking to LAURA OSNES and her husband), Christina might be battling laryngitis. Aw, so many of them are getting sick. :( But Christina is an "
Extraordinary Girl" and she can fly. Well, climb over a fence. HAHA.
The Idiots raced to a 6-0 lead. The other team just couldn't score.
Andrew Call is a fucking awesome catcher! SRSLY.
Rebecca Naomi Jones also stopped by to show her support. Another Broadway star who came out to support the Idiots:
Laura Osnes. SECOND TIME I missed her. The first time was at American Idiot final preview night at stage door. But that was understandable -- it was chaos back there. But here?! She and her husband were there for a SOLID HOUR before leaving. They didn't leave until Gerard had his turn to bat. Omar even had a long-ish conversation with them. And when that was happening, Omar was literally sitting BESIDE me! OMG, what the fuck is wrong with me! I guess the stars really want me to watch South Pacific. O_o
It frustrates me to NO END when I remember it so this will be the final time I'll talk about this moment of sheer stupidity.
In the end, the Idiots win 10-3. I had "Buffalo" and "
Ohms" (Omar Lopez-Cepero who for some reason kept staring at me. Dude! Not that I mind but I got a bit uncomfortable haha...) sign my photo before Christine and I left the field. And we sort of got confused as to where the exit is so we decided to... follow Andrew Call! We followed Andrew and his
awesome hair. And where did he lead us? To the
Rock of Ages game!
I don't think I've mentioned it before but when Christine and I watched Rock of Ages last 11 May 2010, Constantine Maroulis wasn't playing Drew. He was in Toronto promoting the Toronto cast of RoA. Truth be told, I was a bit bummed. I met Constantine four years ago back in the Philippines - his first after-Idol gig. The dates were
14 November,
17 November, and
18 November 2005. And in those three times, I failed to take a photo WITH him. I have photos OF
him and with his brother,
Athan. But not with him. I even have my
Pray for the Soul of Betty CD signed! Well, it took me four years and another country but here it is -- my photo WITH Constantine Maroulis:
Gerard and Ben also stopped by and chatted a bit with their RoA friends. Christine and I will be trying the RoA lottery and hopefully, if we get it, Constantine will be playing Drew.
