It's been a while since I had a great conversation. I don't know a lot of people online and personally who are tennis fans. The comments on the link I posted below are interesting, and you know what... I do agree with almost all of them haha

I read over the press conference transcripts and I just can't help but wonder how these journalists have jobs. I still can't get over the "little fairy" question! I'm not sure if I would have the same level of composure that Federer or Nadal display by tolerating such absurdities. To me it sounds like they are trying to bait the athletes into saying anything that can possibly be used in the best interests of these journalists - i.e. something trashy to help sell their newspapers. I've learned not to believe what I read - it's like skimming over email, sometimes what you 'read' is not even close to the intent of what is attempted to be conveyed. It is all a matter of interpretation and you are completely correct when you say Our perception of them during TV interviews are, of course, different because we see them, hear the tone of their voice, etc. But on hard copy? I give them a wider leeway.
This final was blown way out of proportion by the press. Here are two athletes at or near the top of their game but that doesn't mean that they can't have their good days and their bad days. The press may be vicious to Roger right now and worshipping Rafa as a tennis god but ask them who they think will win Wimbledon and I'm certain they will say Federer and proceed to remind us time and time again how Rafa is simply a 'clay-court' specialist. *rolls eyes*
Don't even get me started on the commentators!! The low point for this tourney was the NBC coverage of the Djokovic/Nadal semi final. Granted I'm not a Djokovic fan, nor did he play that well for the majority of the match, but when he finally did stage a mini-comeback, breaking Rafa twice in the third set to take it to a tie-break, the commentators had already written Nole off, jokingly saying 'now he just has to win the tie-break and play like that for two and a half more hours'. Commentators are sooooo biased I normally keep the tv on mute whenever I watch. I trust my own judgment far more than theirs.
Thanks for all the French Open updates and posts. They have been most enlightening!
