Instead, I'm watching 2008 Pacific Life Open Men's Singles. Haha, I woke up at frickin' 4 in the morning to watch the live broadcast on StarSports.
I saw Ferrer def Rochus and the second set tie-break of Djokovic def Seppi. And of course, it's a good morning treat for me because I managed to watch Nadal def Giraldo in its entirety. Now, it's Ginepri v Moya. :D
Other players through to Round 3 are:
- Tsonga v Matheiu -- okay, whoever wins this match will be up against Rafa. Now, Rafa has faced-off with both players in the past. He has had favorable results against Matheiu. But his SF demolition from Tsonga at the AO2008 is still fresh in our minds, right? No worries though. Rafa's proven over and over that he's a great player; he's the defending champ on this event, and he's not going down without a fight (or he's not going down at all YAY!). Tsonga has not lived up to the expectation put on him after AO2008. So let's see, let's see.
- Richard Gasquet -- opponent still to be decided between Dmitry Tursunov and Juan Ignacio Chela. Richie defeated Robin Soderling.
- Novak Djokovic -- defeated Andreas Seppi on Center Court, 3-6 6-7(3/7). Like Tsonga, the Djoker has not taken advantage of his AO2008 victory; not riding it like Federer would have had he won. Next opponent would either be Philipp Kohlschreiber or Xavier Malisse.
- Juan Monaco -- will either be up against Guillermo Canas or Jonas Bjorkman.
- Stanislas Wawrinka -- upsetting 10th seed Tomas Berdych, 2-6 7-6(7-3) 6-4. I've been seeing this player in a lot of draws but I have never seen him play. Once, doubles with Roger vs Moya/Nadal (which the Swiss team lost haha). But singles, I hope to see him play. He will be up against either Wayne Odesnik of USA or Marcos Baghadtis (meluvs!!!).
- David Ferrer v Lee Hyung-Taik -- oh Ferrer... I watched him play an incredible match versus Rochus. And the Korean Lee is not to be outdone after upsetting 26th seed Jarkko Nieminen.
Haha, the Pacific Life Open is soooo memorable for me especially when Rafa is concerned. His press conferences pre- and post-Finals 2007 were the best ever for me!
See for yourself!
