Lloyd got me and some others to dress up and help give out candy for another of the holiday celebrations around here--that was the reason for the Secret Santa exchanges before. This time it was something called Christmas. Again I didn't know what it was supposed to be when I first heard about it, but I've learned more about it since then. Really, Lloyd just wanted to help cheer people up, and I think it worked! Maybe it's just because people like candy, but it felt good to make people smile like that.

I got things for my friends as well as for the person I had for the Secret Santa, and my friends got me presents too. (Thanks, everyone!) I got a few books, so I guess it's time to start reading up. I have one from Professor Klarth that might help me learn more about Ratatosk, and another from Jaime on how to defend myself when I need to. (And I haven't forgotten your gift, Yomiko! I'll definitely be using what you gave me, too.)

Come to think of it, Ratatosk told me I needed to take learning how to fight again more seriously. I didn't pay much mind to that at the time because I was trying to take everything else in first, but I should have listened to him. He was right, and Jaime was too. Before I didn't really want to get very far with it. It was a way to connect with my past, but if the time came for a real fight, I wouldn't want to have anything to do with it.

But I might have to fight somebody for real in the future, even though I wouldn't want to. I used to be a knight, even if I don't remember much about being one, and I know I probably had to protect somebody. If I don't learn how to fight I won't be able to protect myself, let alone anyone else. I received some armor for the Secret Santa, but that won't help much either if I don't know how to use it. And I can't just abandon that person.

So I have to learn, if not for myself then for that other person, and for Ratatosk too. If he's still watching what I do, he's probably annoyed by now that it took me this long. I hope he isn't really my boss.

(OOC: Emil's gifts are finally up after much uncreativity on my part! Whoo.)
