Yeah so I noticed I didn't tell any of you all this, but I am currently traveling to sunny Portland via Road Trip with the Rents and Grandma. My butt is so sore, and mom won't let me drive for very long, "so [she] can sleep", even though she was doing that already :/ I KNOW THE WAY, TAKE 40 TILL WE HIT THE GRAND CANYON GOD
WELP, we had a late start, didn't leave until 4 p.m. on Friday 'cus dad was dragging his feet, but we still made it to the Grand Canyon/Tusoyan in around 18 hours, and we stayed there until the following afternoon so we could see the sites. All it did really was reiterate the fact that I am a wuss and am terrified of heights. Mom kept scaring me by going to the edge of the cliffs and bending down to take pictures; for those of you not in the know (everyone), mom is a notorious klutz and will trip on anything and nothing, so it was a very legitimate reason to be freaking out. Grandma didn't do a lot of hiking because of her asthma, and we had to keep telling her to take her Xopenex because she was all "I took my Advair, I'm fine". Let me tell you something: she just got out of the hospital after a 5 day stay because she couldn't breath without oxygen, and she sounding like hell warmed over. I'm the one who has been rooming with her, so it's pretty much implied that I have to watch her like a hawk to make sure she takes her medicine.
Then yesterday we arrived in SIN CITY BABY WOOOOOO YEAH not that we did anything besides check in, take a short nap, and then head over to one of mom's high school schoolmates/OL friends whose husband is a nurse for the Air Forse. She made some really good Filipino chicken recipe with rice, but I forgot to get the recipe from her, so mom's going to have to get off of facebook. SO GOOD but I didn't have much of an appetite.
Then today we went SHOPPING, yay. Mom made me get another pair of jeans at the PX (though this one was called a BX, wth), which were a pair of GLO by JLo at $22 USD, which is pretty cheap for JLo's stuff, but my cheapskate self was just outraged at buying a pair of pants for over twen'y dollahs. THE SHOES WERE WORSE THOUGH, they were $42.50 USD, FOR A PAIR OF SNEAKERS UUUGGGHHHHHH The only shoes I've ever bought for over $20 USD was a pair of silver 4-inch high heels for prom, and that was because they were nice, high quality shoes. Finally got a bra, though, so I don't have to go around with THO all the time. Probably still will, but that's because I'm secretly a damn dirty hippie shhhh
Today we are going to wake up Bright And Early so we can hit Portland and (hopefully) not get caught in the mountains by the (!!!!spoiler lol) snow. Which was the whole reason we didn't go through Colorado. GOOD JOB BROSUKE
All in all, I have learned that I need to wear earplugs if I'm staying in a room with the older generations of my family; that grandma is insane; that the PX is not cheaper than Wally World and the clothes are about the same quality; and that, while having a laptop means you can watch porn wherever you go, you still can't watch it while on a trip because you're in close quarters with everyone else :'(
