Erin's compy has been randomly powering down for some time now, and I haven't been able to figure out the cause of it ever since it started up. It would initially crash during City of Heroes when there was a ton of stuff going on, but it recently started crapping out around five minutes in, regardless of what's happening. In addition, running either Spybot or Symantec Antivirus would do the same thing.
I'm really, really thinking it's a virus, and yet the problem is that, if that's the case, it's hiding itself so fucking well that I have no idea how to remove it. All things considered, I'm *THIS* close to backing everything on her machine up and reformatting the fucker out of frustration. Since her final semester's started up (OMGYAY), she can't afford to be compy-less for long - hence my resignation to nuke it from orbit with the boot disc and start over.
So yeah. That's been my past few weeks. *resumes lurking*
