University Newbie Update

Sep 07, 2007 10:20

Been in school for a few days now, and I don't appear to be freaking out yet.  This is cool.  I might do a bit of freaking out later, depends on how things progress.  I'm leaving some time free in my busy schedule for some unfettered freaking out just in case.

To my good fortune, none of my instructors suck.  My Academic Writing instructor isn't insanely interesting, but he doesn't suck.  I won't have a hard time there.  My Astronomy prof is hilarious in just the right way to keep up paying attention.   My Anthropology prof started the class by hiding amongst us and using an old dude who works for the school as a grim-faced decoy, so she could observe us for a few minutes.  Finally, in my English class, I have been told we're going to start by studying Hamlet.  Sweet.  I am so in my element with Hamlet.

Only had one chance to get at the beer tent, which is unfortunate, because the availability three dollar beer should never be wasted.  I doubt I'll have a chance to head back there today, but at least I have experienced the subtle pleasure of drinking at school.

So glad I chose the U of W.  It's so delightfully bohemian.  I will definitely be comfortable here, even if I start freaking out.  Now I just need to find a way to not be broke for the next four years...
