so um yeah, we're fixin to get bitchslapped with a cat 5 hurricane within the next 24 hours. the winds are already up to 161 mph and they're saying it still could strengthen. why have a category 5 hurricane when we can go for what would be a cat 6? i think 169 mph is as high as the scales go so if we pass that? yeah.

wait, scratch that; they just said it IS still strengthening, we're just waiting for the 10am update to see how much. we are so screwed. the first landfall is expected to be on the most southeastern part of the Louisiana coast (Gulf isle, Morgan city bayou area just east of New Orleans) and then the second one they're saying will be around Bay St Louis, Mississippi. that's about mmm, maybe 35 miles from where we are. but hey, by the time it gets to us it might be down to a cat 4, woo hoo. oh, and we're in the NE quadrant which means we'll get it worse than anywhere else it hits. holy hell ok, it's still aways out in the gulf, we haven't had ANY rain yet but we already have flooding in some areas 'cause it's still high tide and the tide is already up THAT much. did i mention we were screwed?

G and i are staying with a friend's parents in their brick house about 20 miles N of the coast, but we might be totally out of here now, i'm not sure yet. they're older and i know if they won't leave we won't leave them. i'm going to try and stay in touch with wildanni7 and moonanstars if we still have phone service.

*hugs flist*

take care, y'all.

ETA: and we're past category 5, we're at 173 mph, good christ.
