Feeling as though I were dropped into another world I asked aloud, "Are you the tree?"
"You know I am," I heard the scratchy, old sounding voice in my head.
I thought the voice sounded much like someone's grandmother.
A rough sounding chuckle echoed in my mind.
"That is as good a comparison as any."
Tamping down the building fear despite the friendly elder voice I asked, "How can I get out of here?"
"As soon as your persuer surrenders his quest of you and your immediate danger is past, you will be able to leave in the same manner you entered."
I sank to the floor confused.
"How did I get in here?"
The voice was suddenly silent.
Certain my mind was no longer sound, I gave in to the frightened frustrated urge to cry.
At first silent tears slipped unnoticed down my cheeks, but as my thoughts continued to swirl, the tears came faster. I covered my eyes and gave in to the sobs that shook my body.
