This weekend was a lot of fun. Last night, we (Moral Dilemma and the women) went to The Nyabinghi to hear Noel's new band (Dimstarshining) play. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, their set was half over. They were really good! I was impressed. It's not too often there's a local band whose sound I can really dig. They had really good stage presence, too. Looking forward to upcoming shows with them. After their set, we watched a song or two from Manifold Stud, who as it turns out, still suck. We went over to the bar area and Joe bought a ton of people shots. We had a huge toast, which was pretty cool. J.R. and I spent the next couple hours sitting at the bar doing shots of Jager and talking to people who wandered over to us. I guess Chris has a new girlfriend. Not sure how I feel about her yet. She seems kinda ditsy. Joe was telling me how good his life is right now with his kids, a promotion, his wife on Zoloft, and the band back together. I'm really happy for him. All the members seemed REALLY happy that they're together again. We realized too late that the last band, Honestly, (from Atlanta) was on stage and that they were really good. We only made it back in there to hear 2 songs. Heather (Joe's wife) was dressed like a complete slut. As soon as we got there, she ran up to me and said "haha, I look like such a slut!" and I said "yep, you sure do". Then after the last band, Noel had a Sharpie which he was using to write on people. J.R. grabbed it and went over and wrote $50.00 on her back. It was hilarious!! That was pretty much the end of the night.
Tonight, we decided to go over to Mike's house and catch up with all the theater people. It'd been way too long since we'd seen them. When we got there, Jimmy and Leslie were there. After a little while, Jason showed up. He just got back from his Vegas trip today. Apparently he went to some big awards dinner thing and saw a ton of celebrities - Jack Black, Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Jim Carrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, etc. He was all excited cause he snuck backstage and happened to meet Jim Carrey. Mike ended up buying a lot of Chinese food so we all ate and talked. At about 11, Jason, J.R. and I went to Jason's house to meet Steve and Drew and Rachel. Surprise, surprise - Steve and Drew didn't show up. We ended up just smoking a few bowls and hanging out with Rachel until they went to the bar. Jason told us that The Oakland (playhouse) requested that 'Hedwig' do another run. Mike was set to direct, Jason said he would direct the music, and Jimmy said he'd play Hedwig again! As it turns out, Jimmy's now saying that he doesn't want to and it would just be taking a step back. I can somewhat understand his point, but I think he should be excited the show created such a buzz and that they're requesting more. Damnit, I really want him to do it!! It would be soooo much fun!
