What is this movie? I never heard of it.
I love love Tim Burton and obviously Johnny Depp so this got my attention.

the stills make me thinks it's in the ilk of "the nightmare before christmas"

Yeah...it's being done in the same stop-motion animation style as "Nightmare". That, along with Buron's distinctive darkness and an obvious collaboration with composer Danny Elfman (who I love), leads me to believe they'll be a lot alike. I loved "Nightmare" though, so I'm not complaining.

I love Tim Burton, too! Apparently the movie is based on a 19th century folk tale. I copied this from some website:

"Set in a 19th century European village, this animated feature follows the story of Victor (Depp), a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride, while his real bride, Victoria, waits bereft in the land of the living. Though life in the Land of the Dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can keep him away from his one true love. It's a tale of optimism, romance and a very lively afterlife, told in classic Tim Burton style."

Helena Bonham Carter is the voice of the Corpse Bride. I think it's supposed to be released in Sep/Oct 2005...only a few months after the Burton/Depp "Charlie and the Chocolate Facory".
