Time sure does slip away from me on here. Since my trip out to FC, I flew out once more to Dundracon to assist in the sale of our new game system, Aspect. For being an open beta and not a final product, it went even better than we expected (although never as good as we'd dreamed :), covering the dealer booth costs and then some.

Since then, the director of our IT department resigned for various reasons, and after a couple months, and going through more than forty resumes, my top candidate of the pile was offered the position and accepted... only to resign himself not a week later. The reasons were personal in nature, and not because of the job, but it's still pretty disappointing.

Our most recent major project completed successfully just last Friday, and the next one is looking manageable, so we can get by without the position being filled for a little while, but I'm certainly not looking forward to repeating all of that work to try again, even if I really would like the position to be filled.

In other news, I unexpectedly adopted another cat! I'd been intermittently considering a companion for Whisper, as he's pretty lonely when I go on any of my trips, even though I do arrange for people to check up on him. I figured my next pet would be a dog - I'd still love to have a Labrador - but my house and my own lifestyle just does not support that yet.

As it happened, an associate where I work had a four-year-old tabby she'd adopted a month ago, and then learned that her youngest son was allergic, so she needed to find a new home for her. While I would not declaw my cats, Whisper came to me that way, and this tabby was also, so I figured it was a pretty ideal opportunity.
And here she is:

So that's keeping me busy at the moment. Her mood towards me is still very mercurial, going from affectionate to aggressive without much notice. But then, I've only had her for not even a week, and it'll take her a while to settle down. She came from a noisy household with several children and a dog, and spent a lot of her time hiding from the dog's unending curiosity. She and Whisper still aren't getting along, but that also takes time. And if for any reason it doesn't work out, there are a lot of other interested people, so it's nice to have a backup plan. :)
That's all I can think of for now.
