I agree with you wholeheartedly. The new Heroes season looks interesting enough to keep me watching, but I don't think it's as powerful anymore because of how the no-one-really-dies thing has made me care less about the characters. And the Mohinder thing does look dumb, too. *shrug* Oh well, it still looks like an interesting story, and it's starting to remind me more and more of X-Men... that's not altogether a bad thing, but it certainly has gotten less realistic (...as far as sci-fi/fantasy is realistic, but you know what I mean) and more comic-book-y.
